About
How We Started
First, thank you for visiting the site. You make this entire project worthwhile, so we hope you find the reviews and articles useful. Thanks again!
We're a small, close-knit group of friends and colleagues that love getting outside and love the gear that makes the experience possible. We also love researching new gear, reading reviews, and hunting for deals. A few years ago we imagined a way to objectively review outdoor gear and apparel using standardized and repeatable tests and protocols. We wanted to provide the test results to you, the consumer, in hopes that our reviews will make it easier for you to compare like-products and choose the right piece of gear the first time. Buying one piece of quality gear that performs as designed and lasts a long time is not just good for you; it reduces unnecessary waste and lessens the outdoor industry’s impact on the environment.
Fast forward to today and we're making the dream a reality. We hope you have as much fun reading the reviews and articles as we do writing them!
Our Mission
Publish the most useful outdoor gear reviews.
Reduce waste and environmental impact by helping you buy right the first time.
Simply make your outdoor experience a little better.
What We Are
Stoker Outdoor Gear Testing (OGT) is an online content provider, built for the consumer. We test and review outdoor gear, apparel, and equipment and publish our findings and opinions on this website.
What We Are Not
Stoker OGT is not a for-hire product tester or environmental research laboratory that tests gear or apparel for developers or manufacturers. We have no affiliation or relationship with any outdoor product developers, manufacturers, suppliers, or distributors.
Disclaimer
We want everyone to safely enjoy their time outside. Use our reviews and recommendations as a guide to assist you in making informed purchasing decisions. But keep in mind that no piece of gear is a substitute for proper education, experience, and preparation. Ensure that your outdoor activity of choice is commensurate with your experience level. Stay safe out there!
We use our own tried and true testing methods, protocols, and standards. While they may have similarities with industry and international testing standards, we spent years developing our in-house testing methods to better reflect real-world use and applicability. Our test results may vary from those determined using ISO, ANSI, AAFA, AATCC, or ASTM standards.
We don’t receive any sponsorships or compensation from gear companies or manufacturers for writing product reviews. We are independent and are not connected to any brand, chain, or service. For information on how we generate income, please visit our Support page.
